What do you want to do with your site?
Knowing the purpose of your site and what you want it to do may sound like a no-brainer, but it's really important to make that decision before you begin to build. Ask yourself what it is you want your site to do. Do you want it to inspire your visitors? Do you want to educate them about a subject? Perhaps you've got products you want to sell.
If you want to write a new message every day for your site visitors, you may want to create a blog. If you have one major message with several topics, you may want to create a static website with a blog. If your goal is to sell product, then you want an e-commerce site.
Your goals will determine the type of site you will create, and how you will structure your site. This means the more clarity you have about your goals, the greater will be your chance of hitting your target. Your goals determine the type of theme we will use to build your site, and the type of pages we will place into your site.
Don't worry if you don't have a complete vision when you begin; it's okay. Believe me when I say, this is a creative process that will change and grow as you grow in the knowledge of your vision. So don't be afraid to try different things. The most important thing at this step, is to START!
In this Action Step, you'll be asking yourself some questions, and perhaps sharing your thoughts with a trusted friend.
